This is Sparta

It's only been a couple days since I last posted about how amazing my life is, but even after a couple days, too much has happened for me to adequately describe how great life is for me! Between the happy news from home about my superstar brother, who made Homecoming Court this week and then had a killer race (again!), field trips and growing amounts of homework, and spending time with great French and American friends, it's been busy! I can't help but smile and really keep thinking about how fortunate I am.

I was thinking the other day how everyone at home might be wondering if there's ever anything I don't like/have had to deal with while studying abroad. Honestly, yes, but most of you probably wouldn't be surprised to know that I haven't let anything get to me, but honestly, there's hardly been anything negative to even blink an eye at! SO, I choose not to write about them. No one needs another "Negative Nancy" in the room, right?

Yesterday, our program took another field trip, this time to Arles, a Provençal town known for its ancient Roman ruins. It was a gorgeous day–the warm sunshine on my shoulders while sitting in a Roman amphitheater is surely a feeling I will try to grasp in January in Chicago–and it was fascinating to see such rich, OLD history within an hour of our home base, as J'aime pointed out to me on the bus ride home.

Arles was a really cool place to visit, but at the same time, as a girl who's not crazy about museums and daydreams about food, it felt like a pretty long day. I went out to dinner/drinks with French and American friends right away, pleasantly surprised at the delicious quiche and salad meal I had for 3,50 euros (unheard of!!!!!!!!!) at the Woo Hoo, which is going to become my weekend meal staple–here you go Bill, "Wow, that's a low price!"

Tomorrow I'm back in class (dommage) but always have my camera handy for Euro-beautiful scenes and food! Long live the photo food journal!

XOXO, c
